BOTANICA GARDENS A RAINY OCEANSIDE WEDDING DAY

Our first Rainy wedding day of the year and we embraced it with rain-boots, clear umbrellas and extra love for the bride!

Rain on a wedding day can be mentally tough for the Bride & Groom. No matter how optimistic we try to be, it just inst what anyone typically envisions for thei big day. Especially a wedding like this… at a beautiful Botanic Garden.

My words to the bride was to believe in the what I like to call the ‘Wedding Day Magic’. Things on a wedding day always seem to work out just right and this day was a true repsresentation of just that.

Our first look was scheduled to take place at 3:00pm and at 2:50pm it down poured as hard as you can imagine. I said a little prayer as I looked out the bridal suite. This is the moment when the photographer needs to be the backbone of the wedding.

I told my bride, let’s give this weather 20 mins. A LOT can change in 20 mins.

Luckily for us we had NO bridal party so all we had to focus on was the First Look & the Bride + Groom portraits before the ceremony. I knew it was possible to make this happen even with the down pour.

2:50pm turned into 3:00pm. The rain began to stop.

I told the Bride, lets get into the dress and see what 10 more mins will do for us. As soon as 3:10pm came around, the rain stopped, the clouds cleared and the sun came out just in time for our BEAUTIFUL first look. (see the first photo below to see how beautiful it really was)

The Bride & Groom shared a beautiful first look together. We took some of the most beaututiful photos and they truly had happy hearts that their vision for the day was coming to life.

We went on to have the perfect Ceremony (outdoors) just as the bride wished, stunning family portraits and even the perfect cocktail hour.

As you can probably guess the rain held up all the way until the Bride & Grooms Grand Entrance. It truly couldnt have worked out better. For both the Bride & Groom & photo if I may say so myself!

We had a tented reception (with heaters) and were all able to stay dry + enjoy the rain we did get that evening.

This is a small example of ‘The Wedding Day Magic’. It sounds silly and maybe even a little cliche but I am telling you it is true and I am a witness to it at every wedding.

So brides, if theres one thing you take from this blog post…. it is to ‘Believe in the wedding day magic’. Make the most of your wedding day and know it will turn out even better than you expect!
